Description

The helles style of beer, a pale lager, dates back to 1894 and was developed to compete with the pilsner brews of that time. Formulated in Munich, Germany, the new beer became known as ¨straw-blonde” or ”Munich blonde¨, due to its yellow color, and later as the familiar, Munich Helles, named for the city.

Our helles from Bad Tom Brewing takes its name from the fictional village of Kloppenburg and draws its inspiration from the historic Mecklenburg Gardens Restaurant and Bier Garten, long a symbol of the Queen City's rich German heritage.

Kloppenburg Helles is fermented with ale yeast, at high temperature and employs triple cascade hops to achieve its unique, dry bitterness (24 IBUInternational Bitterness Units). It has a warm honey color and a light white lace with a buttery aroma.

Cincinnati returns to its brewing heritage with our Kloppenburg Helles lager -style strong ale.
